Common Wealth Games

'Corruption with Games' has become the abbreviation, showcased to its full potential in India. We would have been really surprised if it was otherwise i.e., corruption free. The other factor is that we are deliberately kept as underdogs as the developed nations cannot comprehend another nation competing its status. 'The best is with the West' will soon be wrong, if it was not sufficiently conveyed with CWG opening ceremony, New Delhi. All the media attack and bad publicity from foreign channels have managed to bring out the best for themselves at the games. May be they have understood clearly and rightly so that 'only protests can move our leaders or make them look at the real issues or wake them up to see what is happening'.

India's goal of finishing second in the medal tally can be accepted for now but let it not remain their vision for ever i.e., finishing behind someone. By 2014 we will the have the richest man in the world from India but sadly the poorest man too. It is true not all Indians know that a world sporting event is happening in India or Indians are among the richest in the world. It's our curse that could not be dealt with after so many years, so many Mahatma's, Mother Theresa's, World renowned Scientists, Economists and so on.

However we could be the happiest, forgetting all bad things with one moment of glory, one verdict, one free TV set....

Childhood lost can never be regained

Numerous initiatives are planned, encouraged, developed and funded at local, national and international level, just because this precious Childhood once loast can never be regained. How many of us lament that a liitle more affection, little more opportunity or little more money could have solved the reasons cited by our elders for being unable to provide us the necessity. Let us not repeat it for our children. Let us offer our children the Childhood since it is in our hands.

"So long as little children are allowed to suffer, there is no true love in the world" - Isadora Duncan

The Dream Within

The courage to own your dream!

It takes courage to own your dream specially because it is your dream and so unique. Comparisons are done based on resemblance. Others cannot compound the real that is in you especially when things do not go well. Go ahead for it is just one dream and one chance to realize it before we exit.

'Mark'ed lines unravel eternal movements

"Line is the most powerful device of drawing" - John sloan

What makes Artists so unique and their drawing so powerful? It is their ability to transform on empty surface, the inner dynamics of human reality which always circumvents the complex control mechanism of the mind to enunciate itself. Hence to speak of an Artist's commitment to his subjects is apparent. They dislike seeking truth at second hand. Love is true and so too art, the prime essence of delving into the known and unknown territory of emotion and imagination. Hence an Artist's voyage within or without oneself is embarked on to bestow accurate, precise and definite description to manifest the truest wonder of truth, the path that is extraordinarily difficult.

Recollect, record, reminiscence might be the steps that a traditional artist would love to tread on but good art completes the cycle by provoking response from the viewers. Can a line evoke such response? Mark Rathinaraj's works bare the mystery of lines making it paradoxically simple to infuse tranquil emotions along the svelte lines to speak volumes by itself. A single stroke, bold and beautiful flows with effortless grace adorned with adroit confidence suggesting spontaneity calling to mind complete forms of familiar imagery.

Mark Rathinaraj born at T. Palur, a village near the temple town of Kumbakonam, also trained at Kumbakonam College of Fine Arts with a merit degree in painting between 1985 and 1990, introduced himself to the world of art with his simple, stark but solid strokes and lines. A loving personality, suave and serene and is never overpowered by his paintings.

Mark in his new series "Metamorphosis" has deeply explored his inner self unravelling the eternity of movements at every gaze. The ceaseless evolution of the human soul keeps elevating the body to higher realms of being, swirling from definite to indefinite movements culminating in composed postures. Contemplation of such serene elevation in solitude leaves the Artist pondering in amazement. Struck by awe and wonder, vividly captures the inexplicable movements on canvas. The Artist gives shape to his self observance in his own inimitable lines and fits colours to his lines with finesse, positioning behind, subtle and bright enrapturing the eyes that behold them in stupefaction. Every pixel of his 'Metamorphosis' truly reflects the depth, vastness and the endlessness of our inner movements. His representation of lines embossed on colour broadens the horizons of viewers raising them to the next level of being.

Mark's distinctive works are lauded for spontaneity leading to contemplative and meditative serenity. Visit www.online-paintings.com for more of his works.

Reply this blog with questions you would like to ask the Artist, that would feature with his answers in the upcoming blog.

Be Creative Be Yourself

After much thought and years of wondering on how to be creative, finally wisdom dawned that I just needed to be 'Myself'. Well it looks so simple but people of yester years have warned us that claim of perfection is for the Gods and not for mortals. Zen says that fullness is fullness and is not relative to the size of the pot. There's nothing like 'more' or 'less' full. Advancement has proved us this wisdom that we can be best by being ourselves and excelling in one's own talents. Competition is good and not comparison.

What works for the other need not work for you. Breakthru> Be Creative> Be yourself
